Global Village…

We went to Dubai for the weekend to look for a car. While we were there we also got to go to Global Village! It was so fun & I got some cool stuff!  I didn’t get as many pictures as I hoped-(it was night so the lighting wasn’t great)… but here are a few of the ones I did get:

    one week!!

Hard to believe that we have already been here for a week! So much has happened it the last week- so much to be thankful for…

First I just wanted to say- so sorry that we have not posted anything on here in forever! The last month as been a whirlwind and continued to be so once we landed on Monday, January 17th. When we got here we were told that the first few days you are in a “fog” because of traveling and the time change… I didn’t really believe it at first, but now that it has been a week since we landed- I totally believe it. Not even real sure what all went on those first few days- ha! I am going to try and give a recap of the last few weeks for you along with some pictures 🙂

The “Good-laters” (this is what I called all the good-byes we did to our wonderful friends & family)

    • We are so blessed by our community in Lubbock… I am still trying to wrap my mind around how loved and cared for we felt when we left Lubbock. We both said that we didn’t deserve the send off that we got- so thank you. Our weekend in Lubbock was filled with a going away party (thanks again for it friends- was a huge blessing), Sugar browns (our fav coffee shop), Thai Pepper (delicious), Mexican food (even if it was tex-mex still great), quality time with our closest friends, a great place to stay (thanks again Hedges- we love our new room!), a great send off at our fellowship & many joyful tears of celebration and sadness to leave such great people and a dear place that we have called our home for the last 7 years.

    • We had the blessing of spending the last weekend in the states with our families in Dallas. Everyone, and when I say everyone I mean all 3 sets of parents, all our siblings, nieces & nephews, a few cousins & my aunt and uncle came to town to send us off! I have to be honest and say that I wasn’t sure how the weekend would go with my tendency to try and please people & make sure everyone is happy, however I was pleasantly surprised at how GREAT it went. It was so much fun, relaxing & a blessing to get to be with all the people we love in one place! It was filled with great food, shopping (finally got to take my mom & sisters to the wonderful Charming Charlies...), packing, great stories, games, great friends, pictures, laughing kids, lots of hugs, and bittersweet tears for what was ahead. We are so blessed by our families and could have not asked for a better send-off. Thanks again- know that we love you dearly & think of you often!

    Our Travels

Everything went great… all our luggage made it, the flight went smoothly- we slept, watched movies & ate- it actually seemed pretty quick (I know that 15 1/2 hours is not a quick flight, but nonetheless it wasn’t too bad!), and we were greeted some great new friends at the airport who have been so helpful since before we even got here. They have been such a blessing to us- driving us around, helping us get our house set up (even if it meant spending 8 + in the mall!), taking us to get food, and showing us around town. It was so fun to finally meet them after months of talking through email & we really like them so that is a huge bonus!

this pic is from my itouch- so the quality isn't great...

I think this post is long enough… so I will share more of our adventures here later! Know what we are doing great- we are joyful & ready to jump into language study. We love you all & appreciate you.

      -ings

My good friend Jord and her sister have an amazing craft blog and on Saturdays they do, “-ings” to let their readers know what they have been up to! I thought it was a great idea and thought I would try it out tonight…here it goes…

      1. driving… we have driven over 4500 miles since September 30th! and we will continue to put on the miles till we leave in January!

      our faithful CRV!

      2. visiting… we have been in Oklahoma this weekend visiting Chase’s grandparents, aunts, uncles, and my brother. It has been such a blessing that we have had the time to spend quality time with family.

      Tulsa with Papa & Joy

at the Tech game with Shawn!

      3. eating… I feel like all we have done lately is EAT! Being “on the road” doesn’t exactly let you eat healthy food or allow for exercise… one day this will happen again for us! The picture below is of us at Coney Island in Tulsa– I have heard about this place since Chase and I started dating… his family loves this place. It was a super cute/old fashioned place. They serve mini-hot dogs with chili & cheese (mustard & onions if you want it) – if you get 3, you get a free coke! I must say they were pretty good, however, I should have NEVER gotten 3– I am still full!

      the Coney Island

p.s. chase was in heaven… it was fun to see him so excited about them!

        on the road… again…

Sorry our posts have been far and few between. We have been on the road for a month now. We started this journey on September 30th and now it is October 30th- hard to believe!

Since I am so far behind on my posts I am going to post a picture from each place we have been over the past month. We have been living out of our suit cases and doing laundry whenever we are in a place for more than 2 days- I thought I would be more sick of it by now, but thankfully I am not. We are currently in Orlando for some training and the first thing I did was unpack! It felt so good to put things in drawers- its the small things in life that make me happy these days! ha

Hope you enjoy the pics. Know that we are doing great and are finding strength in the Lord in our travels. Each mile has been a blessing. Thanks to all of you for letting us crash at your place and for feeding us! We love you all and are thankful for you.

          Portland

This year for my birthday I asked my mom if she could send me to Portland, OR to visit my dear friend Cassie and her new precious baby, Jonah. And it actually happened! I got to go visit Cas, David (her sweet husband), Jonah (such a cute baby), and Cassie wonderful family (Julie, Cade, Tim, Kelsey and Aunt Jaris). I had an amazing time. We just hung out at the house, made yummy food, learned how to make home-made bread, held Jonah, watched Jonah laugh, cry and eat, catch up on life and play with Jonah some more. Oh we also made it to the Outlet mall and the Colombia Outdoor Wear employee store- lots of great deals- which was great!

Before I show you any pictures I have to tell you about my unique friendship with this family. I met Cassie in 4th grade and we became instant Best Friends. We did everything together… we both even wore big round glasses! In 5th grade we found out that Cassie would be moving to Portland, OR for her dads job- super tragic. I thought I had lost my best friend…

However, God is good and we were able to keep in touch all these years as if no time had passed at all! We have only seen each other 7-8 times (including both our weddings) since she moved and without hardly any communication (a few emails and cards now and again), but every time we do get to see each other it is just as sweet as the last. I hope that one day we can live closer, but if that never happens I am confident that we will be life long friends! Thanks for a great week- I love you all dearly!
