Lemons and Ladies
My friend Kristin Foster is selling bags and other fun accessories through a company called “Thirty-One”. The bags are super cute and reasonable prices! You can pick from different patterns and have them embroidered for only $6. I threw a party for her this weekend called, “Lemons and Ladies”. I based the whole theme of the party off these yellow tissue balls I made for a shower that I wanted to reuse. It turned out super cute with a fun lemony menu. Here is what we served:
- Lemon Meltaway cookies (so good)
- Cream Cheese Stuffed Pecan Strawberries (not lemon, but still good)
- Lemon-herb cream cheese spread with wheat thins (Jord brought this)
- Lemon Roasted Chick Peas (also from Jord)
- Lemon Bars (Laura Newsom brought these)
- Lemonade
- Silver Sangria (I made my own version of this…)
It was a great party with great food! If you want to look at the catalog and order anything click here. We are going to close the party this Sunday (July 25).
2 years…
Chase & I have been married for 2 years (yesterday was our anniversary!). It has been an incredible two years of our lives… lots of life changing events, big decisions, road trips, laughs and tears.
Yesterday we went to dinner at Thai Pepper and we were discussing some of our favorite memories together over the past two years. I thought I would share a few with you…
- Our honeymoon in San Francisco
- Our one year anniversary- we ordered Dions pizza and staying in a local hotel for the night
- Our trip to Oman in March 2009
- Many a nights experimenting with cooking and then evaluating what we came up with… letting each other know what we would do next time
- Our trip to Orlando, FL in January
- getting caught in a snow storm on our way back from Albuquerque- we spent the night in a hotel in Santa Rosa!
- Our million road trips together over the last 5 months (even if I have slept during a lot of them 🙂 )
- Staying at a Bed and Breakfast in Post, TX
- Watching episode after episode of the “Friends” DVDs – mostly avoiding being productive
Those are just a few of our favorite memories…looking forward to many more!
Here’s to 78 more years together! (when we got married we said ” Can’t wait to spend 80 more years together… so we have 2 down!)
Thanks for who you are Chase- I love you!

I am sitting in front of my computer trying to think of what suave words I should try to convey in this first post, but the pressure becomes too great and I just end up starring out the window. This isn’t an ordinary window though. I’m not sitting at our desk at home, or in a coffee shop sipping an Americano. No, I am looking out at the vast west Texas landscape in our cramped, energy efficient Honda headed out to Dallas for the 7th time in the last five months.
As many of you know, Britt and I are preparing to move overseas. We wanted to set up this website so that we could keep in touch with all of you, and share with you our everyday happenings as we prepare to move as well as when we are in the middle east. We hope that you enjoy our little corner of the Internet.
A few thoughts:
- We are so grateful to all of you that have been so supportive of our ministry, encouraging us when we think we are crazy and lose confidence. Thank you.
- This has been a long process for us. More and more we owning up to the fact that we need your prayer and involvement.
- There is nothing else that we would rather be doing. It’s hard. There is sacrifice involved. Sometimes we cry. But there is a greater hope, which makes us smile and gives us butterflies in our stomach.
That’s all for now. Thanks for stopping by, and we look forward to hearing from you and sharing in this great cause that has been laid before us both.
From beyond the desert,
-c&b
