we are going to have another…

NEPHEW!!!

Yup, that’s right little Liddy is going to have another little boy cousin BFF! And we couldn’t be more excited…

The way we found out what my sister is having for their second little bundle of joy was through the opening of a box with BLUE balloons floating out of it. Such a fun idea… and we got to be part of the special moment by waking up at 5:30 am (totally worth it) and watching it via Skype… oh how we love you, Mr. Skype!

I love how happy my sister’s face is in this picture! It has been amazing and so encouraging to see the Lord shine through this couple even in the midst of something so difficult as having to say goodbye their sweet baby girl far too soon. We are praising the Lord for the new life inside of my sister (and me!) and continue to ask for His hand in both pregnancies and births.

Congrats Brooke & Clint! We can’t wait to meet and hold baby boy Schuelke in December and for our babies to grow up together. Love you all.

“…that according to the riches of His glory He may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being.”Ephesians 3:16

July 3: finishing up crafts for our 4th of July bash!I think we stayed up till 2 am almost every night leading up to the 4th working on crafts and watching Anne of Green Gables

July 4th: Happy 4th! My first time to make cheery pie- homemade crust, delicious & festive!

July 5: great day on “the other side” (since we live in a border town we only get to venture to our neighboring town with lots of malls & restaurants for our doctors appointments)… day included a loong doc apt., pizza, Starbucks, a little shopping, swimming, & Chili’s for a quick dinner

July 6: burrito bowls, or as they like to call it Sazon night after a restaurant in Lubbock, at the Remkes

July 7: my view… yup, no longer can see my feet!

July 8: perfecting their “ninjas moves” in photo school while we learned about shutter speed (this was taken with a high shutter speed to capture still motion)

#2 for July 8- had to share both of these! love Chase’s face!

July 9: more practice with shutter speed (this one was taken with a really low shutter speed for a blurred motion affect)

Our “lil firecracker” at 28 weeks!

How far along? 28 weeks on July 4th! (hints the “lil firecracker” t-shirt! – isn’t that cute, Jord’s sister’s friend sent it to her along with a bunch of other 4th of July decor…so sweet she thought of me in my preggo state!)

Total weight gain: I think 17

Maternity clothes? Yes- pretty much all maternity now… wishing I could wear shorts & t-shirts and sundresses… trying to be content with what I have to wear in the heat…

        Stretch marks? None so far!

Sleep: great… as long as the A/C is turned on a few hours before bed. Also, have been waking up with an earache lately… Dr. said its normal during pregnancy- so strange.

Best moment this week: When Chase and I were praying he had his hand on my tummy and he felt Lydia move, but he said it felt like she ran her elbow or something down his hand… I love seeing how excited he gets every time he feels her move!

Miss Anything? Laying on my back to fall asleep…. Laying on my tummy… not needing to pee everything 30 min or so! Ha

Movement: She has been starting to get her little feet up in my ribs… I can’t imagine what it will feel like as she continues to grow! Love it!

Food cravings: anything cold, chocolate chip mint ice cream

Anything making you queasy or sick: certain Arab food still… along with the smells of it and Indian food…

        Gender: girl!

        Labor Signs: Nope

Symptoms: earaches, shortness of breath, achy lower back if I have been standing all day or walking a lot

Belly Button in or out? OUT! Jord, told me the other day that I couldn’t call it an “in-ie” anymore- ha!

Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy and enjoying pregnancy, but moody more when I am outside in the heat

Looking forward to: meeting our little girl in 11 ish (give or take) weeks!!

We had a doctors appointment this week… It was not ordinary appointment… from start to finish it was about 5 hours (but we got to leave the hospital for about 2 ½ of those hours.. for Pappa John’s Pizza- yum) The reason for this Looong appointment was because I had my sugar test (had to drink that orange sugary drink that I have heard to much about…it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, however, about 45 min after I drank it I started to feel a bit off and really wanted some food!) and had to get my blood drawn twice. Once to check if I have diabetes or not (praise the Lord I don’t’!) and two, because I have O-negative blood and Chase has O-positive blood- we found this out a while ago, but apparently it is not good if the two blood types mix, so they had to check to make sure my blood and the Lydia’s blood had not mixed and to see if it was reading negative or positive right now. After waiting 3 hours after they drew the blood for that, it came back that it was negative, but the bloods had not mixed- which is a good thing, however, I still had to get an injection to keep the bloods from mixing, or something like that. So I had to be brave and roll on my side, without Chase in the room (he was paying for the shot) and get an injection in my behind! Good times…

Praying that there are no complications with our different bloods, not sure what it all entails, but just praying she continues to grow and develop well and that I can carry her full-term. Thankful for our little girl and the time we have gotten to know her so far! (I know that sounds strange, but I feel like somehow I know her a little bit already, so special that i get to carry her in my belly- love this job!)

          June 23 – July 2

June 23: week 26! Jord is so great to spend 1 hours (or more) writing my boards, rearranging furniture and then taking pics of my belly every other week! about 8 more to go!

June 24: lots of picture editing and blog checking up…

June 25: I made lemon scones with lemon whip cream for a going away tea for a friend before she went home for the summer

June 26: checking out a new local coffee shop during a school lunch break- not too bad for our little town

June 27: red, white and blue nails… getting ready for the 4th!

June 28: Yemeni food.. Lydia let me eat it! yum…

June 29: 2nd time to change our locks since we moved into this house… sad day- got my computer stolen this last week ;(

June 30: 4th of July wreath! Excited for our party with all our American friends this week!

July 1: We started a photo school last week with Jord as our teacher! I am loving it so far and loving reading about photography- this week we worked on the Aperture- notice that the orange pencil is in focus and everything else is blurry- this is caused by a smaller  aperture number, which is actually a larger hole letting more light into your camera!…. sorry for the geek out moment it is just fun to start to understand what my camera is doing as I am taking pictures. This was taken at a f-1.4 (for those that care- ha)

July 2: for our Photo School we are given different assignments- since we talked about aperture we were asked to take pictures of the same object at different apertures- this one was taken at an f-5.6

June 17: we got a driver to take us around the island and show us some fun Thai culture- this sign at the Buddha temple was pretty classic

June 18: everyday we had the best breakfast buffet at our resort- complete with homemade waffles, omelets, eggs made to order and cappuccinos with a cinnamon stick to stir with- delicious!

June 19: loved the walk ways in our resort– had to watch my step carefully as I walked around.. but loved it none-the-less

June 20: Bangkok for the day/night while we waited for our 2:30 am flight home… this was on a ferry boat ride back from our sunset dinner… yes, it was quite the trip- I was for sure spoiled – stay tuned for more pics and stories!

June 21: again, worst part of vacationing… coming home & a suite case of dirty clothes

June 22: Chase was “nesting” and put together Lydia’s stroller and car seat- he is gonna be a wonderful daddy!

Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy and relaxed!

Looking forward to: working on crafty stuff for miss Liddy and her nursery, doing some summer reading about labor and other fun baby books!

                    23 weeks and a name!

Yup, thats right we have a name for our little lady mcnugget! We decided it on Mother’s Day, but wanted to call her the name for a week to make sure we still loved it before we told family and now you!

So how we came up with it… On Mother’s Day Chase made me breakfast in bed (sweetheart!) and then we were talking about her name and how we wanted to decide between the two we had narrowed it down to (Sydney & Lydia)… so we looked up the meaning for both and then read the story of Lyida in the Bible in Acts 16:13-15 & 40. (read it- it’s good) separately and when Chase came in from the other room I was sitting on the bed with tears rolling down my cheeks and I looked at Chase and said I think her name is Lydia May! And he said ok! I love it! We talked about how cool it was that she was a “seller of purple goods” and the fact that I love purple and we had just recently decided to add purple to the nursery colors… and how we have been praying since we found out we were pregoo that “God would open her heart” to believe in Him one day…. and how we would love for our little Liddy to be hospitable and welcoming to all people. We felt like this story and name was perfect for our first little girl that we will have in the Middle East:) We can’t wait to hold and kiss her in about 16 weeks! (give or take) Oh and the meaning of Lydia is “of noble kind”!

p.s. We decided on May for the middle name because it is my middle name and my grandmas!

How far along? 23 weeks (on May30th)

Total weight gain: I think 10? … feel like my face has filled out this week- boo!

Maternity clothes? Yes, but still can wear some regular clothes

                    Stretch marks? None so far!

                    Sleep: great!

Best moment this week: Getting to share Lydia’s name with our family!

Miss Anything? laying on my tummy… to read, type on the computer, sleep… anything really.

Movement: Yup! She is a mover and I love every second I feel her move. It makes me giggle every time. She does little fast jabs and kind of a wave movement quite often 🙂

Food cravings: nothing in particular this week… but loving cold fruit and anything with ICE! When it is about 112 degrees everyday I think iced drinks (coffee, water, tea.. ) is the only way to go.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Arab food still… but slowly adding more back in

Gender: girl! The last ultrasound, which was the in-depth one, they told us she is 101% a girl! Also, praise the Lord, everything looked great on the ultrasound and she is measuring on schedule… what a gift from the Lord. Praying she continues to develop well and is full term.

Labor Signs: Nope- way too early for that!

Symptoms: stretching pains in my stomach as it grows, heartburn about 2 times a week and tired feet at the end of the day

Belly Button in or out? in (with a hit of out… waiting to see if it will go all the way out..?)

Wedding rings on or off? on

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! Enjoying being pregnant and this time in our lives!

Looking forward to: our babymoon to Thailand next week!! And finishing school so I can do some more baby planning… my brain feels so divided right now…

Sorry its been a while since I have posted… hoping to update the 365 tomorrow!
